I swiped the Goldfish photo below from Johnshaven (my Mum) so thank you for that. I just thought I would share with you all the fact that it is in fact quite amazing that this fish survived to the age of 4 far or less 20!!
When he was but a water babe of 3 years old - I was staying at my parents with my daughters aged 2 and 1 years old at that time. My Mum and Dad had gone off out for the day probably to escape the chaos LOL and the two cherubs were sitting watching a Disney masterpiece on the TV in the sitting room. The wee goldfish at that time was very happy in his goldfish bowl sitting on top of a corner cabinet in the sitting room. So I took this opportunity to have a wee snooze on the couch - a one and two year old can be quite tiring lol.
The crash, bang, wallop!! The corner cabinet, a stool, Holly (the 2 year old) and the wee fish came crashing to the floor!!. Holly in her infinite wisdom had decided to get a stool to stand upon and reach into the bowl to pat the fish!! Luckily for the fish he landed on a shag pile carpet which kept enough water to keep him alive. As quick as Roger Bannister (LOL) I scooped him up and plunged him into a basin of water in the bathroom sink. What a relief when he started chicaning around the porcelain bowl. I was very thankful it is not only cats who have 9 lives!! So he well and truly deserves his 20th birthday and his big tank in the kitchen. Holly is now 19 and has now learned that you don't pat goldfish LOL
